Liaison Duties & Responsibilities

The Military Family Liaison is acknowledged as a valuable resource for meeting the social and emotional needs of military students and their families. The Military Family Liaison's main duties and responsibilities are:

• Provides resources and program information support to military families.
• Supports military families and students.
• Serves as the point of contact and collaborates with military-connected students, their families, and campus.
• Serves as an advocate for the military community and helps establish military students on campus.
• Collaborates with the campus PEIMS clerk to ensure military-connected students are identied and properly coded through the Texas Student Data System Public Education Information Management Systems (TSDS PEIMS).
• Determines campus-based assistance and services for military-connected students based on their specic requirements, particularly their high mobility.
• Assists in coordinating campus-based programs relevant to military-connected students.
• Attends professional development opportunities for sta members on issues related to military-connected students.
• Provides professional development opportunities for sta members on challenges aecting military-connected students.
• Reports to the campus administration on transitional issues for the family member or students.
• Communicates with principal, teachers, students, and family members.

Transitioning to Taylor Elementary

Transitioning to a new school environment can be challenging. At Taylor, we will support you and your child by helping your students ease into their new routines. Jack Taylor Elementary is a public school in Burleson, Texas. Our campus serves around 550 students, and approximately 20 are military-connected. The closest military base is located in Fort Worth, and it is named Naval Air Station Joint Reserve (formerly Carswell Air Force Base), approximately 16 miles from the school.

Taylor Elementary pairs your students with a student ambassador. These student ambassadors will spend time with your students during lunch the first week and will guide your students around campus. Our school colors are red, white and blue. Our mascot is a Texan. Unless there is a special dress-up day, we wear some of our favorite college or military shirts on Thursdays, and on Fridays, we wear our spirit shirts. For our military-connected students and families, we have special activities on campus. A weekly newsletter is provided by our principal to families via email to let you know of events and happenings on campus.
